Denise Blasor is a multi media artist, director and writer.

She  is Associate Artistic Director at Bilingual Foundation of the Arts and a founding member of LAAFO, KOAN and East LA Classic Theater.  

She was Artistic Director of LADifersified a multi-cultural theater alliance, where she served as director, designer, writer, performer and adapter.

Shows she has directed/ designed/performed/produced include her adaptations of  THE THREE SISTERS, HE WHO GETS SLAPPED, COOKING, NO EXIT and the original musical CADERAS.

At the BFA she has directed and adapted LA VIDA ES SUEÑO/LIFE IS A DREAM, BODAS DE SANGRE/BLOOD WEDDING, THE WIDE WIDE SEA, WILD IN WICHITA , PEDRO INFANTE Y LA SUEGRA TRIUNFANTE.

  

As an actress she has performed in the United States, Europe, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Blasor was born in Paris, France to Puerto Rican parents and raised in Italy and Puerto Rico. She began her career in Puerto Rico and then moved to Chicago to be part of Steven Schacter and David Mamet's  St. Nicholas Resident Theater Company, where she worked with William H. Macy and Steven Schacter.

Theatre credits include world premieres of Octavio Solis' JUNE IN A BOX at Intersection for the Arts, Luis Alfaro's ELECTRICIDAD at the Mark Taper Forum, Rodrigo Garcia's TEN TINY LOVE STORIES, Timothy McNeil's LOS MUERTOS directed by David Fofi, Miguel Sabido's LA FALSA CRONICA DE JUANA LA LOCA directed by Margarita Galban, THE CLEAN HOUSE directed by Ron Sossi, LA POSADA MAGICA at South Coast Repertory directed by Diane Rodriguez and Octavio Solis which Blasor also later produced and designed at the Odyssey Theatre. With her Stage appearances she has garnered Drama-Logue, LA Weekly, Back Stage West, Cesar, Ovation nominations and  awards.



She has been a voice over artist for over twenty years and also works in  Voice Over animation. Credits include the Oscar winning film HAPPY FEET directed  by George Miller where she plays Adelie chica. Other credits include The Oscar nominated PUSS IN BOOTS, Trey Parker's TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE, Alfoso Arau's A WALK IN THE CLOUDS, Tony Scott's MAN ON FIRE, Sydney Pollak's RANDOM HEARTS, John Frankenheimer's YEAR OF THE GUN,  John Woo's MISSION IMPOSSIBLE II, Martin Campbell's THE MASK OF ZORRO, Johnny Deep's THE BRAVE, Costa Gravas MAD CITY.



Film credits include Roger Spottiswoode NORIEGA: GOD'S FAVORITE with Bob Hoskins portraying Noriega, while Blasor plays his wife Felicidad.  

She worked with Marcos Zurinaga in the film DISAPPEARANCE OF GARCIA LORCA . The unusual movie takes place in 1936 as civil war is beginning to brew in Spain and teenagers Ricardo and Jorge have come to idolize the poet Federico Garcia Lorca, portrayed by Andy Garcia. They attend the premiere of his play "Yerma" and go back stage to meet the man. Denise Blasor plays "Yerma" or rather Margarita Xirgu, the Spanish leading actress that portrayed many of Lorcas heroines. Blasor was performing "Yerma" at the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts when producers for the film saw her performance and hired her to play Xirgu/Yerma.

​​In addition to her adaptations, Blasor's  writing credits include screenplay A VIEW FROM ABOVE co-written with Dan Shor, Web series THE LADY FROM JUPITER STREET, the Children's Books  LOS CUENTOS DE DOÑA JULIA  with art work by Blasor and THE FAMILY TREE which she co-wrote with Gloria Charles. Blasor also wrote Original music for THE FAMILY TREE with art work by Juliette Blasor.

The soon to be released fiction DAYDREAMS AND SHADOWS, TRANSLATIONS OF A BROKEN SOUL has also original art work and photography by Blasor.
